Tomorrow four startups will pitch to judges at the first “Shark Tank”-like event produced by Westfair Communications and the Westchester Angels. BioInc@NYMC, New York Medical College”™s biotechnology incubator, will host the two-part event open to the public at 7 Dana Road in Valhalla.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with light breakfast and an educational forum for entrepreneurs hosted by iCANny, a virtual business and technology incubator. Public relations and marketing firm Buzz Creators Inc. and law firms Dorf & Nelson LLP and Becker & Poliakoff will participate in the interactive session. Attendees will break for networking and light lunch at 11 a.m., to return for the afternoon session at 11:45 a.m., which will feature keynote David Heath and pitches from four startups. Attendees can come for either session or both.
Heath, who grow up in Westchester, is now the co-founder and CEO of Bombas, a company that creates athletic and leisure socks and donates one pair per pair purchased. Heath is a serial entrepreneur who has founded three companies with one successful exit. He has been seen on ABC”™s “Shark Tank,” NBC”™s “Today Show” and Bloomberg TV.
The four startups, all based in the Westchester County region, include Lately, an SaaS platform for comprehensive platform management; Nonnatech, a patent-pending digital health solution that monitors in-home behavior for clinicians and caregivers; MediSprout, a telehealth video conferencing platform; and Top Chef Meals, a chef-crafted meal service.
The startups will receive instant feedback from a panel of judges including Tereza Nemessanyi, entrepreneur-in-residence at Microsoft; Jonathan Rosen, founder of Collaberex; Helene Rude, director of the Marist College Cloud Computing and Analytics Center and Jeffrey Zink, an angel investor, speaker and former vice president of Yahoo. Jeff Loehr, principal consultant at Stratist Consulting and columnist for the Business Journals, will moderate the event.
