A pharmaceuticals and cosmetics manufacturer will add more than 100 jobs and equipment at its Elmsford plant with the help of an Empire State Development Corp. grant.
Empire State Development officials said San-Mar Laboratories Inc. will invest about $1.9 million in renovations, systems improvements and new machinery and equipment at its 4 Warehouse Lane facility in Elmsford. The manufacturer plans to hire 115 full-time employees by January 2013 and retain 199 current workers. The state agency”™s $750,000 grant will be used to reimburse a portion of real estate improvements and machinery and equipment expenditures.
One of the county”™s 10 largest manufacturers, San-Mar was founded in Westchester in 1975. “This grant will enable San-Mar Laboratories to remain in New York and continue to grow and add jobs for the community,” said Marvin Berkrot, company president.
