Pattern for Progress”™ annual dinner will honor chambers of commerce throughout the Hudson Valley and their economic partners for their fight against the MTA mobility tax. The event, to be held Nov. 5 at Anthony”™s Pier 9 in New Windsor, will formally present leaders with its 2009 Regional Achievement award.
Others being honored for their contribution to the overall betterment of the region’s economy and quality of life:
— Economic development kudos will be awarded to Orange Regional Medical Center, building the first new hospital in the state in 30 years. Under the leadership of CEO Scott Batulis, the hospital in Wallkill eventually hopes to become the region”™s first teaching hospital on the west side of the Hudson.
— Pattern”™s Quality of Life award will be presented to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, based in Cornwall-on-Hudson, for meeting the challenging economic times and continuing to find new sources of support, creating strategies to help 370 agencies throughout the region in their daily fight against hunger.
— A Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to former Orange County Executive Louis Heimbach, currently president of Sterling Forest L.L.C. “If there”™s a committee or organization that needs straight talk and action, you can be sure you”™ll find Lou involved,” said Maureen Halahan, president of the Orange County Partnership at its recent investor breakfast.
Keynote speaker for the event will be Robert Dyson, president of the Dyson Foundation based in Dutchess County. The family foundation, started by his parents back in the 1950”™s is headquartered in Millbrook and given more than $16 million in grants in 2008 alone.
Pattern”™s annual dinner draws from all parts of the Hudson Valley and anticipates the event will bring more than 400 supporters to the annual venue, which will feature a 5:30 dinner buffet.
