An Elmsford-based company awarded the New York Power Authority its President”™s Award for supporting minority- and women-owned businesses.
NYPA, which is based in White Plains and is the state”™s public power organization, spent $66 million in reportable expenditures in fiscal year 2014-15 toward state-certified Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprises. The power organization”™s spending went toward things such as work supplies and contracts for building repairs, according to a NYPA spokesman.
Presented by the office supplies firm Proftech, the award recognizes companies that demonstrate a commitment to minority- and women-owned businesses. Proftech was founded in 1980 by Jose R. Montiel and reports more than $15 million in annual sales, according to its website.
Past recipients of this award include PepsiCo, Philip Morris USA, Kraft Foods and IBM Corp.
