Anthony Foxx, newly confirmed Secretary of Transportation, was scheduled to appear in New Haven this morning as part of a news conference highlighting the importance of investing in the country’s rail infrastructure.
Foxx’s visit to Connecticut marks his first official visit to any state since being confirmed by the Senate. He was scheduled to participate in the news briefing, along with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, whose district includes New Haven.
Speaking at New Haven’s Union Station, Foxx was set to touch on the importance of rail investment on economic growth, according to a release from the governor’s office.
