The Stamford Innovation Center opened its historic Town Hall doors recently to host the first regional Hackathon in conjunction with the Stamford-based Shippan Institute.
The organizer is calling it a success and has already scheduled another for this winter.

Shippan Institute, which is headed by Hugh Seaton and offers training software, previously ran Hackathons in New York City and San Francisco. The goal at the end of the three-day ”” Sept. 18 – 20 ”” event was to produce a 3-D map of Stamford to serve as a launch pad for future apps (July 20 FCBJ). At that time, Seaton sought to demystify the term by defining hacking as a concerted effort to crack an electronic problem.
“We”™re ecstatic about the turnout for the first Stamford Hackathon,” Seaton said. “We had hundreds of developers, entrepreneurs, families and teens come through. It was a real testament to the tech community in the Fairfield County and Westchester area.”
Shippan Institute and the Innovation Center now have an official partnership in which Shippan will work with the center”™s education offerings and explore new ideas.
“The projects were amazing, the talent was deep,” Seaton said of the Hackathon. “We”™re already planning the next one for February 19 to 21.”
