To clarify the misconceptions and share the truth behind what makes big data collection and analysis valuable for businesses, the University of Connecticut”™s School of Business is offering an executive education program called “Demystifying Big Data” Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the UConn campus in Stamford.
Presented by UConn professor Ramesh Shankar, assistant department head for Operations & Information Management, the presentation will focus on how big data is collected, analyzed and how it can be effectively used to propel businesses.
“Big data is incredibly important because people and businesses are increasingly relying on the internet and mobile computing devices such as smartphones, wearable health devices, GPS and the like that are generating vast quantities of data,”™”™ Shankar said. “We can store, manage and analyze data like never before. And the result is yielding better results for customers and helpful information for businesses.”™”™
