After considering relocating outside New York, Active International will be keep its headquarters in the Hudson Valley, the company announced with Empire State Development Corp. on Friday.
Employing more than 500 people worldwide, Active International is a provider of media, marketing, travel, retail marketing, shipping and other business services through corporate trade. The company has renewed its lease to remain headquartered at Blue Hill Plaza in Pearl River, Rockland County, through 2029.
Empire State Development offered Active a performance-based grant of up to $1 million to put toward renovating and modernizing its facility, which is tied directly to the company”™s commitment to retain more than 315 full-time employees there.
“Blue Hill Plaza has provided the opportunity for Active International to grow both as a business and a member of our community,” Alan Elkin, the chairman, CEO and co-founder of Active International, said in the announcement. “We are pleased to have reached a progressive solution for our space needs that keeps us in Rockland County for the next 15 years and look forward to remaining an active member of the community.”
In early 2014, Active examined modernizing its Blue Hill Plaza facility or finding a new location. After considering multiple options, including relocating and building a new facility outside of New York state, the company decided to invest in its Rockland County operations and keep its global headquarters there. The company occupies four floors and approximately 100,000 square feet at Blue Hill Plaza.
Tim Jones, a managing member of Blue Hill Plaza, in the announcement said, “Today, Active is the largest tenant at Blue Hill and a major employer in the county, so their commitment to 15 more years is obviously of enormous importance to us.”
