The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) is acquiring 20 former US Navy H-60 helicopters made by Stratford-headquartered Sikorsky Aircraft.
According to a Flight Global report, the USCG is planning to operate a helicopter fleet consisting entirely of MH-60Ts. To achieve this goal, the service will need divest its 98 Airbus Helicopters MH-65D/Es – although no timeline has been announced for that strategy.
The USCG now operates 48 MH-60Ts, a variant of the H-60 Sikorsky produced for the Navy. USCG Rear Admiral Michael Campbell the USCG’s director of acquisition programs, did not say when the 20 helicopters were being acquired, although he added the service eventually plans to operate 127 of the Sikorsky aircraft.
