J. P. Morgan Chase Inc. was honored recently by county officials for operating the quietest overall fleet of aircraft last year at the Westchester County Airport. The global financial services firm was among 26 aircraft operators presented awards by County Executive Andrew J. Spano for their commitment to the county”™s voluntary noise abatement procedures.
R.T. Vanderbilt Company Inc., an industrial minerals and chemicals company based in Norwalk, Conn., was cited for operating the quietest individual aircraft in 2006. Air Frantz Inc. of Greenwich, Conn., led the list of quietest operators of turboprop planes and Safe Flight Instrument Corp. of White Plains received the top award for helicopter operators.
All companies and individuals honored by the county completed the year with no incursions of the airport”™s voluntary restriction from flying between midnight and 6:30 a.m. and followed the airport”™s recommended noise abatement procedures for arrivals and departures. None of the operators was cited for any “high-range noise event” ”“ 93 decibels or more ”“ during the year.
