The U.S. Army awarded DRS Technologies Inc. an $11 million contract to make lightweight, low-noise generators for use in tactical operations.
The work will be performed at the Parsipanny, N.J.-based company”™s DRS Fermont facility in Bridgeport, which DRS says is the largest supplier of military generators in the country.
DRS Fermont has received $58 million in orders this year for its tactical generators. Another subsidiary called DRS Power & Control Technologies has a plant in Danbury that designs power converters and control instrumentation for U.S. Navy ships and submarines.
