A Westport woman has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for embezzling more than $1.8 million from charitable foundations and her employer.
U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant sentenced Soozi Folsom late last week in Hartford to 46 month in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
While working at a Westport-based accounting and law firm, Folsom wrote at least 124 fraudulent checks drawn from the foundations’ bank accounts, according to the court. Folsom was then said to have covered up the transactions by manipulating her employer’s accounting software system.
Judge Bryant also fined Folsom a fee of roughly $1.8 million.
