Although the homicide rate has decreased by an average of roughly 5% within 40 of the biggest U.S. cities between the second quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2023, it has not disappeared completely. In order to determine which major cities have the biggest homicide problems, WalletHub conducted a data analysis for its new report Cities with the Biggest Homicide Rate Problems.
WalletHub compared the nation”™s 40 largest cities based on per capita homicides in during the second quarter of this year and compared them to the date in the second quarters of 2022 and 2021.
According to its data analysis, WalletHub”™s Cities with Biggest Homicide Rate Problems are as follows:
1. Memphis
2. St. Louis
3. Kansas City
4. Washington, D.C.
5. Detroit
6. Richmond
7. St. Petersburg
8. Chicago
9. New Orleans
10. Oklahoma City
While no cities from the Westchester/Hudson Valley region or Connecticut were on the WalletHub list, New York City ranked 28th and Boston came in 39th among the 40 cities.
