A Stamford contractor pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a charge of federal tax fraud.
Pavel Teply owned Five Stars Remodeling, which provided roofing services for residential and commercial property owners. According to the charges brought against him, Teply provided his tax return preparer with a schedule that underreported his business”™ receipts and expenses and his income. Between 2013 and 2015, Teply”™s underreported income resulted in a tax loss of $175,812.
Teply pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and assisting the filing of a false tax return, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of three years. He was released pending his May 6 sentencing.
