A Yonkers man who ran an ambulance business has been sentenced to six months in jail and will pay $10,000 in fines after benefiting from fraudulent Medicaid claims.
Kurien Palliankal owned and operated Carewell Ambulette Inc. out of New Rochelle in which capacity he transported Medicaid recipients to and from nearby counties, according to the office of state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
Between July 2006 and March 2010, Schneiderman said Palliankal knowingly submitted exaggerated claims to Medicaid, profiting more than $200,000 than he should have.
In addition to jail time and fines, Palliankal will serve five years of probation following his release from jail.
