A pair of coming conferences ””one national and on the phone; the other at Westchester County Center in White Plains”“ could help prevent computer crime and improve digtial outreach for businesses.
In the area of prevention, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is offering a conference call to counter the tidal wave of cyber crime.
At 11 a.m., May 9, the FDIC will host a regulatory conference call for one hour on the topic “Identifying and Mitigating Cyber Fraud.”
The call will focus on “the emerging risk and the growing sophistication of cyber threats.” The dark forces attracting specific attention include cyber fraud trends and so-called “attack vectors” that lead to account takeovers and widespread service disruption.
 The FDIC call will feature an informational presentation and a question-answer period.
On May 14, Chappaqua-based Silverback Social”™s founder and CEO Chris Dessi and Ossining-based Zanzarella Marketing will focus on the overall digital economy with guest speakers from social media, IBM, news and advertising.
The County Center event is geared toward small and large businesses. Dessi said he organized it “to offer people the proper tools to engage with their clients like never before.”
