The Town of Stratford has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for architectural and engineering services for the proposed Stratford Performing Arts Complex in the town”™s Shakespeare Park property.
According to a statement issued by the town government, the intent of the RFQ is to seek design, scheduling and budget estimating throughout a multi-year and multi-phase program. The project will be funded by the town, the state government and philanthropic donations, and the finished project will be owned and maintained by the town.
The complex will replace the American Shakespeare Theatre that was destroyed in an arson fire in January 2019 after being shuttered for 20 years. Last month, Stratford Mayor Laura R. Hoydick unveiled a proposal for the complex that would include a new 550-seat black box theater and a new amphitheater and pavilion for outdoor entertainment.
A new proposal is offered for Stratford’s Shakespeare theater site
“This is an important step towards Stratford having a welcoming, multi-use arts complex for one of the most significant, beautiful properties in our town,” said Hoydick. “It is an exciting time as we move ahead in the search for the most qualified firm to assist the town with the redevelopment of Shakespeare Park located at 1850 Elm St. We are looking for a partner to support the vision of the town and future of the park as a significant outlet for use by all those in our community, while embracing the charm and history of the park.”
The current bid invitations from the RFQ are available to view on the town”™s website. https://www.stratfordct.gov/content/39832/39846/39929/40192.aspx
