Both the Nanuet Town Center at 5101 Fashion Drive and the Rockland Plaza shopping center at 76 Rockland Plaza in Nanuet have been attracting new tenants. Rockland Plaza is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of New York State Route 59 and North Middletown Road (County Route 33). Nanuet Town Centre is located at the intersection of New York State Route 59 and Middletown Road.
The electronics retailer Best Buy confirmed on April 7 that it is moving from its current location at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack to a 35,500-square-feet space at the Nanuet Town Centre. The move is expected to take place early next year. Best Buy plans to move into part of a 100,000-square-feet space that had been occupied by the At Home home decor superstore that had offered furniture, rugs, patio sets, and seasonal items. At Home closed this past December.
Metropolitan Realty Associates (MRA) described the Best Buy leasing as “part of the ongoing repositioning of a 218,000-square-foot former Macy’s building, which MRA acquired in 2018.” It also pointed to the addition of a Storage King USA location and a freestanding Popeyes restaurant on-site and said it’s part of a broader strategy to diversify tenancy and maintain consistent traffic.
Rockland Plaza, owned by Brixmor Property Group, is redeveloping and dividing spaces formerly occupied by Modell’s Sporting Goods and Marshalls. Brixmor says that it has attracted a 29,000-square-feet Burlington store, an unnamed national retailer that has taken 30,000 square feet and a lineup of small-shop tenants including Honeygrow and Naya. Honeygrow is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in customizable stir-fries, salads, fruit and yogurt. Naya is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in Lebanese-inspired bowls, rolls, and salads.
Brixmor said that the Rockland Plaza redevelopment includes the transformation of the former Barnes & Noble and Petco into a 25,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack, a 5,000-square-foot Ann Taylor Factory Store, and a 4,000-square-foot Motion PT with additional retail. It said that a 3,000-square-foot Quickway Hibachi also is new.
