United Hebrew Geriatric Center, a multi-service senior living campus in New Rochelle, said the $56 million construction of its new nursing home, the Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion, is 75 percent complete.
The existing Lola and Saul Kramer Pavilion is 54,300 square feet and the Ada and Saul Gutner Pavilion measures 71,400 square feet. When the new home is complete, the Kramer Pavilion will merge with the 143,000-square-foot Lucile and Joseph Skalet Pavilion for a total of 197,300 square feet.
“Our staff, residents and their families alike are eager for moving day,” said Rita Mabli, president and CEO of the center.
Plumbing is in place in the entire building, and the mechanical duct work and heating are also complete. The roof is 90 percent complete, and its HVAC has been installed. Perkins-Eastman Architects designed the facility, which Andron Construction Corp. is building.
The home will have 176 private rooms with private baths and a 44-bed short-term rehabilitation floor staffed with Burke Rehabilitation Hospital workers.
The home will mimic individual neighborhoods, each with its own 800-square-foot activity room, entertainment center and dining area.
Construction is scheduled for completion at the end of 2008.
