Westchester Arc opened its new Gleeson-Israel Gateway Center in Hawthorne on Thursday, Sept. 18. In a move from the Katzenberg Center in White Plains, Westchester Arc looks ahead, visualizing the gateway center as a symbol of hope, providing individuals with developmental disabilities expanded resources to make residential, career and recreational choices consistent with personal needs and desires. The building houses a water wall, “a direct request from the individuals with developmental disabilities we serve, representing renewal, refreshment and the contributions they feel they make to the greater community,” said Beth Mount, a guest and expert in person-centered planning and a longtime consultant to the organization.
“I”™d like to thank our passionate staff, and the biggest thanks goes to all of our donors, who believed we could do it,” said Anne Majsak, president of Westchester Arc at the ribbon cutting and water wall dedication.
