Memry Corp., a maker of medical device components, plans to expand its headquarters in Bethel and make room for added manufacturing capabilities and new employees.
The expansion will add 15,000 square feet to the company’s existing 37,000-square-foot facility at the 300-acre Berkshire Corporate Park, which has more than 1 million square feet of building space.
The company specializes in products using nitinol, a nickel and titanium alloy.
“This expansion is a strategic investment to maintain our leadership in the manufacturing of complex nitinol components and address the growing needs of the medical device industry,” Memry CEO Niccola Di Bartolomeo said in a press release.
Marcy Macdonald, Memry vice president of human resources, told the Danbury News Times the region gives the company access to the skilled labor force needed to expand.
“Bethel has provided an ideal home for our growing business,” Macdonald said. “We currently employ 200-plus employees possessing a wide variety of skills, including process and product engineering, laser engineering, metallurgy, quality control and skilled assembly.”
Memry plans to hire between 20 and 50 employees in the coming years, the News Times reported.
Memry did not immediately return a phone call or email inquiring about construction costs.
