Erin Hinchey has seen no shortage of retail interest at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center in Rye Brook.
“We turn down tenants everyday,” said the leasing representative for Win Ridge Realty L.L.C., property managers. “It”™s important to get tenants who can fill a void and add to our shopping center.”
At press time, there was one vacancy.
Three new leases have been signed within the past month.
Retailer “& Company, A Lifestyle” has just signed a lease for 1,600 square feet.
The store, which operates locations in Westport, Conn., and Norwalk, Conn., features an eclectic blend of home furnishings, linens and clothing.
“There”™s a lot of synergy there for them,” Hinchey said. “And they obviously have the added advantage of parking and a grocery store.”
The store is scheduled to open by the end of the summer.
Another new tenant, Buddha Sushi, has been a “much more expensive build-out.”
Taking some 5,989 square feet of space in what was the old theater building, custom-made Japanese hibachi grills will line the interior.
“There was a huge need for it,” Hinchey said. “The hibachi experience is a big thing in Westchester and with families, we want to keep people here later at night.”
It should open by the end of the year.
The weeks-old Chipotle Mexican Grill “has been doing amazing,” with an opening day that echoed the traffic seen by the chain”™s Manhattan counterparts, Hinchey said.
“We”™ve seen quite an increase of interest from smoothie operators, but we don”™t want to cannibalize the existing sandwich shops or Last Licks (ice cream store).”
