The former New York State Police Troop T barracks in Tarrytown will be demolished this week to make way for construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement.
The bridge”™s operation and maintenance team and the state police had been housed at the facility, at 333 S. Broadway, since the bridge was built in the 1950s. The building will be demolished to make room for a construction staging area and eventually for the approaches to the new bridge.
The bridge team and state police are temporarily using a 42,000-square-foot former newspaper printing plant warehouse in Clarkstown.
The new address, 160 N. Route 303, will be the police and bridge team’s home until they move to permanent Tarrytown facilities set to open in 2018.
