Welsbach Electric, a subsidiary of Norwalk-based EMCOR Group Inc., has been awarded a contract for the installation of the electrical systems on the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
Welsbach Electric will install power, security, communications and other systems on the bridge.
“This is an enormously important, high-profile project, and we are honored to be a part of it,” said Ken Brouwer, Welsbach president and CEO, in a press release. “The Tappan Zee Bridge is an icon, and millions of commuters each year depend on its safety and reliability. We look forward to being a part of helping to make these new structures a reality.”
The scope of work also includes installation of roadway and aesthetic lighting, temporary electronic tolling, structural health monitoring and life safety systems. Welsbach said it will install over half a million feet of conduit and 3 million feet of wire and cable over the course of the contract.
