The Connecticut Building Congress will host a broad-brush building trades networking event in Bridgeport on Tuesday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Bridgeport, 1070 Main St., featuring Mayor Bill Finch and Bridgeport”™s director of planning and economic development, David Kooris.
“It”™s a great opportunity for the construction, architecture and engineering community to learn about the city”™s plans for economic development and related opportunities,” said CBC First Vice President Richard Bergan, who also is principal of Middletown-based Bergan Architectural Woodworking, in a statement.
“CBC is a networking group, and we want our members and guests to have an informative and interactive evening with decision makers and colleagues,” Bergan said. “Most of our programs occur in the Hartford-New Haven Corridor, but this month we are exploring opportunities in Bridgeport.”
The event is titled P.T. Barnum Started Here ”“ Bridgeport, The Park City Preview and Beyond.
Rocky Hill-based CBC was founded in 1952 for the likes of property owners, engineers, architects, attorneys, general contractors, developers, cost consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and testing laboratories to network. Its current president is Tom Beebe, who also is senior program manager for Arcardis U.S., a global construction concern with offices in Sandy Hook.
Besides an active college scholarship program, the CBC promotes monthly programs on relevant issues and runs its own industry practices committee. Other CBC efforts include annual awards, opportunities for member businesses to showcase their goods and services, an online website directory and registration.
