With a new Tappan Zee Bridge gaining momentum and preliminary foundation work already begun in the form of test bores, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce has lined up the man of the hour to address its April Contact Breakfast on Wednesday, April 17 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel.
Thomas Madison, executive director of the New York State Thruway Authority and a leading expert on roads and bridges, will deliver the keynote address.
Madison oversees all New York State Bridge Authority operations and reports directly to a governor-appointed board of directors. He will discuss upcoming Thruway reconstruction projects, the most ambitious of which is the Tappan Zee project, plus finances and other issues of note for local businesses.
In addition, the April breakfast features the Dutchess chamber”™s Headliner Awards, given annually to leading and innovative businesses in the county. Awards will be given in five categories: Leadership in Organization & Community; Outside-The-Box Innovator; Green-Friendly Organization; Continued Growth in Current Economy and Customer Service. Hudson Valley Fresh sponsors the 2013 Headliner Awards.
The chamber’s Ambassador Committee will again be collecting canned and dry goods to support Dutchess Outreach. KeyBank is sponsor of the April breakfast. There is a cost of $20 per plate for members with advance registration, or $30 for nonmembers and guests. For reservations, visit dcrcoc.org or call 845-454-1700 ext. 1000.
