AvalonBay Communities Inc., based in Alexandria, Va., was recently named 2007 “Property Management Company of the Year” by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in its annual Pillars of the Industry Awards.
The awards honor “superior achievement in apartment and condo development, design, marketing and management,” according to the NAHB.
A panel of industry professionals that judged the awards selected the winners from among hundreds of entries.
AvalonBay has developed several projects in Westchester. The company”™s newest high-rise in New Rochelle, Avalon on the Sound East, is scheduled to open in late May. The 588-unit building is across the street from Avalon on the Sound, which has 472 units. The company also has plans for an apartment building in White Plains, on Barker Avenue, which will have 14 stories and 348 units when completed.
The developer also has properties in Bronxville, Elmsford and Mamaroneck.
