Developers of the first office building to rise on Westchester”™s Platinum Mile corridor in more than a quarter-century and the building”™s medical tenant on Wednesday joined with business and government leaders to celebrate the grand opening of their 85,000-square-foot facility in the Purchase Professional Park.
Westmed Medical Group in December opened its fifth full-service medical office in the county at 3030 Westchester Ave., a four-story, Class A building developed by Bronx-based Simone Healthcare Development Group and Fareri Associates LP in Greenwich. Westmed, the 300-physician multispecialty group practice, has staffed the new facility with 65 physicians and 80 support employees.
The construction project, financed by a $22.8 million construction loan from First Niagara Bank”™s Commercial Real Estate Group, was completed in about 14 months, noted Joseph Simone, president of Simone Development Cos., the parent company of Simone Healthcare Development Group. The project contractor was Gateway Development Group Inc., a Greenwich company of the co-developer, Fareri Associates.
The Westmed building, which Simone called “one of the finest and most technologically advanced medical buildings in this region,” was designed by Design Development in White Plains.
“The medical building of the future is here right now at 3030 Westchester Avenue,” said John J. Fareri, president of Fareri Associates. “Clearly the future of Westchester County is in health services and technology,” he said.
Simone said 3030 Westchester, the fourth building in his company”™s recently renamed 13-acre office park in Purchase, “is just the beginning of a revolution in health care real estate” in which his company will be a leader.
“What was once called the Platinum Mile has been transformed into the Medical Mile,” he said.
