White Plains Hospital, which in recent years has been expanding its physical facilities as well as the variety of medical services it offers, has now made a move to provide dentistry. White Plains Hospital Dental Care opened recently at 79 East Post Road, the same building that houses the hospital’s Family Health Center and St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center.
The dentist who leads the practice is Joseph Leanza. He began practicing dentistry in 1984, founded White Plains Dental in 1993 at 1 East Post Road and has served as section chief of White Plains Hospital’s Department of Dentistry since 2010.
“Dental health, while critical on its own, also plays an important role in general health” Susan Fox, president and CEO of White Plains Hospital said. “Having these services under one roof allows us to enhance access to care and help manage referrals for patients and families who need it most.”
Fox and other hospital officials took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the dental facility.
The addition of White Plains Hospital Dental Care was made possible through a Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program III grant from the New York State Department of Health. The hospital was awarded $1,763,155 to “renovate existing extension clinic to create a family dental clinic that will primarily serve low-income, underserved, minority and Medicaid populations.”
“My team and I have been part of this community for many years, providing high-quality affordable dental care to our patients,” said Leanza. “We are so pleased to formally launch White Plains Hospital Dental Care.”
