Wartburg, which offers comprehensive senior residential and health care services on its 34 acre campus in Mount Vernon, plans to open The Berkemeier Living Center, a 50,500 square-foot facility offering dementia and Alzheimer’s care, next Tuesday.
The Berkemeier Living Center features 64 state-of-the-art residences, including 32 private and 32 companion suites.
“Berkemeier Living Center was meticulously designed and purpose-built from the ground up,” Wartburg said. “Every aspect of our facility has been carefully crafted to cater to the unique needs of our residents. This thoughtful approach ensures an environment that enhances safety, comfort, and overall well-being.”
The services and amenities being offered at the center include: private and companion suites; individualized care plans; 24-hour supervision; personal electronic response safety system; dietary advice and support; restaurant-style dining; housekeeping and linen services; spiritual support; music and creative therapies; beauty parlor and barber shop; medication management; daily events; medical appointment scheduling.
The Berkemeier Living Center is named in honor of Wartburg’s second president, Rev. Dr. Gottlieb C. Berkemeier, who served for 36 years. The lobby and gallery on the first floor at the facility showcase Wartburg’s history. The first level also includes event spaces, a music therapy room, and administrative offices. A healing garden in the rear yard provides outdoor seating and community space.
