Ed Lachterman has been elected Yorktown Town Supervisor in yesterday’s special election to fill the remaining term of the late Tom Diana, who died in January. Diana’s unexpired term runs until the end of next year. According to the Westchester County Board of Elections, the preliminary tally shows that Lachterman received 4,198 votes compared with 3,498 for his challenger Jann Mirchandani.
Lachterman ran on the Republican and Conservative lines and Mirchandani ran on the Democrat and Working Families lines.
Lachterman was elected a Yorktown Town Councilman in 2015. Lachterman lists his business interests as including owning and operating an ice cream parlor on wheels that can be hired for parties and special events, owner and CEO of Elements Massage in White Plains, and CEO of hospitality consultant The Ultimate Service Agency in Yorktown Heights.
Lachterman’s biography from the Town of Yorktown shows he currently is active with the Yorktown Sons of the American Legion Squadron 1009 and a member of the Yorktown Lions, having served two terms as the Lions’ president. He also serves as a board member for Yorktown Against Heroin. He was a team leader and member of the Yorktown Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and now serves as the Town Board Liaison to CERT.
At the Town Board meeting on Jan. 2 of this year, former Town Supervisor Diana appointed Councilman Lachterman as deputy supervisor.
On his campaign website, Lachterman said, “My mission is to serve the town of Yorktown and all of its citizens both in office and in the community. I will always make decisions based on what I feel is right for Yorktown, both from my 28+ years of living here and from listening to my fellow residents.”
