According to the US Geological Service (USGS) a magnitude 4.8 earthquake with an epicenter near Lebanon, New Jersey at 10:23am.
The quake shook homes in New York City, in Westchester County, and Fairfield County. There are reports of it being felt across Long Island and unverified reports of shaking as far east as Rhode Island.
The USGS reports that the origin was roughly 4.7 kilometers below the New Jersey Township of Tewksbury.
