President Biden is scheduled to fly to Westchester County Airport late this afternoon, arriving at 5:50 p.m., the Business Journal learned from the White House. Biden is scheduled to fly on board Air Force One to Westchester and then motorcade to Greenwich, Connecticut, to attend a fundraising event.
Biden is scheduled to depart Wilmington, Delaware en route to White Plains, on an executive version of a Boeing 757 airliner operated by the Air Force. Any Air Force airplane on which the president is riding is identified by the call sign Air Force One. The 4:45 p.m. flight will originate at the Delaware Air National Guard Base in Wilmington. Numerous road closings are expected in order to accommodate the president’s motorcade as it travels between the airport and Greenwich and then back to the airport.
The president is scheduled to participate in what is called a “campaign reception” in Greenwich. The president is expected to be at the event for anywhere from an hour to 90 minutes. He then returns to Westchester for an 8:05 p.m. flight to Joint Base Andrews, formerly known as Andrews Air Force Base, outside of Washington and then a helicopter ride back to the White House.
The fundraising event takes place at a private home in Greenwich. The invitation for the event did not disclose the location, saying that it would be provided to people buying tickets. The event was reported to be sold-out, with the lowest priced tickets selling for $3,000.
Numerous Connecticut officials including Gov. Ned Lamont and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, both Democrats, were expected to be among those attending. Biden was last in Westchester in April when he attended a fundraiser at the Irvington home of celebrities Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Business Journal’s Justin McCown reported, “While Connecticut, which only has seven electoral votes and is widely viewed as dependably Democratic, is not a key battleground in the 2024 election Fairfield County is home to many of the wealthiest people in the country. Donors in Connecticut can provide access to vital funds that the Biden campaign can use to further their cause in swing states.”
