Oishi is Japanese for “delicious,” a term which Oishi Sushi & Izakaya in South Norwalk has strived to embody for a decade.
Originally opened by Chris Chen in 2014, the goal was to bring the friendly atmosphere of a a traditional Japanese pub together with the upscale vibe of a sushi bar while offering a full kitchen, craft cocktails, and house-made deserts.
When Oishi celebrates its tenth anniversary in October 2024 it will do so with new leadership at the helm. Vicky Gao, the owner of the Osaka Restaurant in Queens has joined forcew tiht the team behind Chochosan Sushi and Hibachi and Chocosan Noodle House in Nanuet, New York.
The new owners will leverage their years of restaurant experience to build upon the established reputation that has made Oishi a cornerstone of the Washington Street restaurant scene while adding new beverage options, menu items, and enhancing the atmosphere.
