Highlife Health opened on September 3 at 19 Huguenot Street in New Rochelle. The event was marked by a ribbon cutting led by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce. It is the first fully licensed marijuana dispensary in the city.
“It’s so important for me to bring a safe product to this community,” Jennifer Gierum, Highlife Health’s owner at the opening ceremony. She also stressed in an interview with Lohud that her shop will help the city tackle the issue of unlicensed sellers, saying “We are going to get rid of all the bad shops that are poisoning our children and we’re going to introduce regulated product to the marketplace.”
Gierum stressed that she has deep ties to the community, despite community concern, noting that her husband’s family had lived on the same block as the new dispensary for more than 60 years.
