Edgehill, a continuing care retirement community in Stamford, opened in 1999. Last week the community marked its twenty-fifth anniversary with a multiday celebration featuring live music, fine dining, and other festivities.
Founded as a collaboration between Stamford Health and Marriot Hotels, the facility was purchased by Benchmark Senior Living in 2011, which added a memory care unit in 2017. US News and World Report gave the facility top marks in every category after the opening of the memory unit.
“A lot of exciting changes have happened in senior living in the last 25 years, and Edgehill has always been at the forefront,” says Edgehill Campus Executive Director Chris Cilano, who has been with the community since 2004. “Retirees today are more active and engaged than ever and have high expectations of what senior living should be. I can speak for all of us here when I say we’re excited about what’s next.”
The facility is also noted for having an active community that both fundraises and volunteers for a number of charitable organizations in Fairfield and the surrounding area.
“There is something special about the residents here, who are eager to share their unique talents and passions,” says resident and Social Action Committee Chairperson Karen Joleson. “We enjoy the life we have at Edgehill but, more importantly, we’re enjoying the contributions we continue to make to our community. It feels good to make a difference and it keeps us young!”
