The U.S. Mint is now accepting pre-orders for the Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coin Program.
The program was authorized in a 2022 law signed by President Biden to celebrate the life and achievements of abolitionist and social activist Harriet Tubman. The Mint is producing $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half dollar clad coins as part of the program; the coins are being offered as collector items and will not be issued for fiat currency.
“Every coin produced by the United States Mint helps to tell a story that teaches us about America’s history or connects us to a special memory,” said Mint Director Ventris S. Gibson. “We hope this program will honor the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman and inspire others to learn more about this amazing woman.”
Introductory sales prices are in effect until Feb. 5. More information on the program is available on the Mint’s website.
