Webster Financial Corp. (NYSE:WBS) has promoted Luis Massiani to senior executive vice president and appointed him president of Webster Bank.
Massiani will also continue in his role as chief operating officer, a role to which he was appointed in January 2022 in connection with the Sterling Bancorp merger. Massiani joined Sterling in 2012 and served as chief financial officer before becoming bank president in 2020 and chief operating officer in 2021.
Webster also announced the promotion of Chris Motl, president of commercial banking, to senior executive vice president. Motl will continue to lead all of Webster”™s commercial banking verticals including commercial real estate. Motl joined Webster in 2004 as the co-founder of the company”™s Sponsor & Specialty Finance Group and was promoted to executive vice president in 2018.
