First County Bank’s philanthropic foundation has reached its $5 million benchmark in total grants awarded  to Fairfield County nonprofits since its formation in 2001.
In total, the foundation has award a total of 768 individual grants worth roughly $5.2 million. In 2012, the foundation awarded 124 grants.
“This is a real testament of our core principles to maintain our commitment to support local communities through philanthropy and volunteerism,” said Katherine Harris, First County Bank COO, in a press release. “This is a real milestone for the foundation.”
The foundation was originally formed to mark the 150th anniversary of the bank, which headquartered in Stamford. Currently the bank has more than 220 employees and more than $1.3 billion in assets.
