GE Money has committed $2 million in capital to Community Capital Fund (CCF), which plans to loan the money in increments of at least $50,000 to businesswomen in the Bridgeport area, including startup businesses.
Developers building housing for women locally are also eligible to apply for loans.
Previous CCF loans have been used by Fairfield County companies to relocate operations to Bridgeport, including stage-set designer United Staging and Rigging and Westport Fishing L.L.C.
To date this year, Bridgeport-based CCF has closed $2.5 million in loans. Previous providers of capital include People”™s United Financial Inc. and Citibank.
Stamford-based GE Money is a subsidiary of General Electric Co. of Fairfield.
