The markets were stabilizing after sharp drops early last week following reports of mixed results in quarterly earnings, more layoffs and other unsettling economic news. This came on the heels of several days of rallies that had some investors feeling optimistic ”“ albeit cautiously ”“ and others watching with a wary eye.
