According to press release from Bridgeport’s The WorkPlace Connecticut saw the fifth highest home foreclosure rate in the country this past February. By March for every 2,609 housing units in the state one was in foreclosure.
To address those concerns the Mortgage Crisis Job Training Program (MCJTP) announced an expansion of its offerings through a partnership between the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Judicial Mediators, the Connecticut Department of Labor and the state’s workforce systems
“The Mortgage Crisis Job Training Program helps create better options for people now and in the future by bringing together the right resources to address their situations and potential,” according to Joseph M. Carbone, president and chief executive officer of The WorkPlace which manages the program.
The state-funded MJTP has already provided more than 3,000 job training scholarships since 2008. The new program will help borrowers keep their homes by helping them take advantage of employment services, job training, job placement, financial literacy and credit counseling classes and referrals to other services.
Additionally eligible participants can qualify to have one month’s mortgage payment made or receive stipends upon completion of training and securing employment.
