Kathi Mettler, an international tax expert and seasoned executive at Big Four public accounting firms, has been named director of learning and education at WTP Advisors, a global tax and business advisory firm headquartered in White Plains. She also will help develop the women”™s group at WTP.
Mettler, who also teaches practice as an assistant professor at Fairfield University, previously led the international tax learning and education program at PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P., where she was a director in the international tax services group at its Stamford, Conn. and Chicago offices. She previously was a manager in the Chicago and Boston offices of Ernst & Young L.L.P.

At WTP, Mettler will develop a new curriculum for professional staff that all tax associates will complete. Unlike previous training, the curriculum will be activity-based instead of lecture-based and will follow the life cycle of how a typical client grows its business and expands.
In addition to teaching, Mettler will also engage in client service projects and business development.
WTP executives also plan to tap Metler”™s experience running the Women”™s Network Circle in the Stamford office of PriceWaterhouse, where she promoted collaboration, support and acceleration of women in leadership positions.
“Today, women account for more than 50 percent of all college graduates,” Mettler said in a press release. “The glass ceiling is crumbling. There are still roadblocks but every woman should operate as if everything is possible, and I”™m proud that WTP is focused on ensuring the firm is a place where women can succeed at the highest levels.”
A spokesperson for WTP Advisors said the firm recently unveiled new policies to enhance the work-life balance for female employees, including unlimited vacation dates and unlimited maternity and paternity days.
Michael Minihan, co-founder and partner at WTP Advisors, called Mettler “the perfect choice to head our training programs.”
“With Kathi on board, we”™re ensuring that we continue to enhance our trainings, furthering our evolution of the best training for our staff, and raising their level of value added to clients,” Minihan said.
Mettler said she was drawn to WTP Advisors because of its distinctive business model that ensures each client project is staffed with more senior leaders than junior staff. “Unlike the Big Four,” she said, “at WTP there are no learning curve costs that are passed to clients, and this precept mirrors the value that I place on the importance of relationships.”
Mettler, a frequent speaker on international tax topics, is treasurer of the Westchester- Connecticut regional chapter of International Fiscal Association USA.
