Struggling homeowners in Connecticut will have an opportunity to attend a state-sponsored mortgage assistance event in Trumbull on May 30.
The event, to be held at the Trumbull Marriott from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., will provide loan modification and foreclosure prevention options for those who are having trouble paying their mortgages, state Attorney General George Jepsen’s office announced.
“Getting lenders and borrowers together to discuss the issues is the first step to keeping people in their homes,” Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said in a statement. “This event facilitates those important conversations between the banks and homeowners ”“ thousands of residents have already received assistance.”
Connecticut residents will be able to meet with a lender or loan service provider. Local housing counselors will also be available to meet one-on-one with homeowners. For those who can’t attend, the state Department of Banking’s foreclosure assistance hotline is available at 877-472-8313, Commissioner Howard Pitkin said in a statement.
Representatives from the following loan service providers will attend: Bank of America Corp., CitiMortgage Inc., Fannie Mae, Green Tree Serving, HSBC National Bank USA, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Nationstar Mortgage L.L.C., Ocwen Loan Servicing, People’s United Financial Inc., U.S. Bank Home Mortgage, Webster Financial Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co.
Organizers have also invited U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved housing counselors, the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, pro bono attorneys, state Judicial Branch foreclosure mediators and other federal, state and nonprofit agencies.
