Passur reports revenue increase
Stamford-based Passur Aerospace Inc., a business-intelligence software and solution company, said its revenue increased 22 percent in 2010.
The company recently reported $10.9 million in revenue ending Oct. 31, 2010, compared to $8.9 million in the 2009 fiscal year.
In 2010, Passur retained a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration for a one-year pilot program to provide access to the company”™s aviation security related products in support of the
FAA”™s joint role with the Transportation Security Administration.
The company owns seven issued patents and has an additional 27 patents pending with the U.S. Patent Office.
Sikorsky delivers choppers to Afghanistan
Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. in Hartford, has delivered two S-92 helicopters to airlift services provider AAR Corp. for operations in Afghanistan.
AAR will perform passenger and cargo lift missions on behalf of the United States Transportation Command, a government agency that provides transportation for the Department of Defense.
The aircraft are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to simultaneously carry both passengers and cargo in the same cabin space, to give AAR greater flexibility to perform its utility and transport missions.
AAR bought the two S-92 aircraft following an October 2010 United States Transportation Command contract award valued at $450 million to provide up to five years of airlift service in Afghanistan. Both
aircraft are expected to begin operations in Afghanistan in February. AAR already operates 15 Sikorsky S-61N aircraft in various mission roles, including Afghanistan.
W.R. Berkley finds new Stamford nest
W.R. Berkley Corp. has leased 46,500 square feet of space on the eighth and ninth floors at Three Stamford Plaza, part of the four-building complex at 301 Tresser Blvd in Stamford.
W.R. Berkley is a financial services company focused on the property and casualty insurance business. The operations of Five Mile Capital and Robert Half Finance and Accounting are shifting their current space in the building to accommodate the company. Five Mile Capital will move to other space within the same building, while Robert Half will relocate to 300 Atlantic St., a building owned by Three Stamford plaza owner RFR Realty.
Though the financial details of the lease were not released, the average rent for class A office space in Stamford”™s central business district is $38.90 per square foot, according to the Stamford branch of commercial real estate company CB Richard Ellis.
W.R. Berkley, set to move in May 1, is moving from Landmark Square, owned and managed by Reckson Associates Realty Corp., a division of SL Green Realty Corp., and will bring the occupancy level of the building to 98 percent.
