The Fairfield County Community Foundation and Bank of America will launch a fundraiser for more than 300 nonprofits in the county. Fairfield County Giving Day, which is this Friday, encourages residents to make online donations to organizations in the community.
The fundraising goal is $1 million. A $25,000 award will be given to the nonprofit receiving the most individual donations. Other incentives and matching gifts will be awarded. The total prize pool is $100,000.
“Whether you support a food bank in Fairfield, a land trust in Redding or an after school program in Greenwich, you”™ll know that your gift is helping a local nonprofit,” said Juanita T. James, president & CEO, Fairfield County Community Foundation, in a written statement. “Your $10 gift could help that organization secure a much larger grant.”
The purpose is to give residents an opportunity to build stronger connections within the community and support the work of nonprofits that they’re passionate about, said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president at Bank of America, in a written statement.
