Accounting, tax and business consulting firm BlumShapiro, with a 70-person Shelton office, has opened registration for the BlumShapiro 5K for Camp Courant at the Travelers Championship.
Hartford”™s Camp Courant ”” billed as the largest free day camp in the nation, serving 1,100 children ”” is the run-walk event beneficiary.
The 2014 race, plus Kids Fun Run and other family activities, is Saturday, May 3, at TPC River Highlands on Golf Club Road in Cromwell.

In its sixth year, the BlumShapiro 5K signals the kickoff to the Travelers Championship golf series. The event welcomes hundreds of runners and walkers of all ability levels along the roads that line the fairways, greens and practice facility at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
“Once again, it is our privilege to host an event that brings families and people of all ages together to benefit the community,” said Carl Johnson, managing partner of BlumShapiro.
The Kids Fun Run begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K race-walk starts at 8:30 a.m., May 3.
Kids activities include face painting, games, clowns, jugglers, balloon artists and caricaturists. Food, beverages and live music are on tap.
All activities will start at 7 a.m. and end at approximately 11a.m.
All race participants will be given one ticket valid for any one day admission to the 2014 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands course, 1 Golf Club Rd., Cromwell, June 19-22.
