Accounting firms merge

Shelton-based Nishball, Carp, Niedermeier, Pacowta & Co. P.C. is merging with BlumShapiro, which has offices in West Hartford and Fairfield.

The accounting firms did not disclose financial terms of the deal.

With the addition of some 15 Nishball professional staff in Fairfield County at last report, BlumShapiro edges closer to RSM McGladrey as the largest state-based employer of certified public accountants in Fairfield County, according to data provided the Fairfield County Business Journal by the companies. Deloitte L.L.P. has the largest local operation of any audit consulting company doing business in Fairfield County, with more than 350 CPAs.
