Tweed New Haven Airport is expanding its routes with Southern Airways Express, a Florida-based airline, offering seasonal service to Nantucket.
Flights will begin on June 14 and run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 14. Fares begin at $199 each way.
The arrival of Southern Airways Express marks the first time in 32 years that Tweed has scheduled service between New Haven and Nantucket ”“ the now-defunct Provincetown-Boston Airlines previously offered those flights.
“We are excited about bringing this key gateway to our new Nantucket hub,” said Mark Cestari, chief commercial officer at Southern Airways. “We expect the service to cater to both the weekend crowd as well as island locals looking for a convenient rail connection to New York City.”
Southern Airways Express is also expanding its New England presence by offering seasonal Nantucket flights out of Providence”™s T.F. Green Airport and Norwood Memorial Airport in Massachusetts. This will be the first commercial service from Norwood, a public airport that is home to charter services and flight schools.
