Sikorsky Aircraft has begun to lay off some of its Stratford workforce due to the company”™s recent loss of a multi-million-dollar U.S. Army contract.
According to a FOX61 News report, a spokesperson for Sikorsky”™s parent company Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) acknowledged the lay offs were part of an 800-job elimination in the company”™s Rotary and Mission Systems division. However, it is unclear how many of those positions are in Stratford.
“We intend to retain as many as possible who can fill our open business-critical positions in our Rotary and Mission Systems business segment and across Lockheed Martin and will continue to hire for roles that are required to support our customers”™ urgent national security missions,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
